How Cortisal Products work
Betamethasone + Salicylic Acid is a combination of two medicines: Betamethasone + Salicylic Acid1 and Betamethasone + Salicylic Acid2 which treat eczema and psoriasis. Betamethasone + Salicylic Acid1 is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy. Betamethasone + Salicylic Acid2 is a keratolytic medicine which breaks down keratin clumps, removes dead skin cells and softens the skin. It also enhances the absorption of Betamethasone + Salicylic Acid1 into the skin.

Frequently asked questions about Cortisal Products
Q. What is Cortisal Ointment used for?
Cortisal Ointment is used to treat inflammatory skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema. Cortisal Ointment contains two medicines, namely betamethasone and salicylic acid. Betamethasone is a strong steroid that reduces swelling, redness, and itching, while salicylic acid helps remove dead skin cells and soften thick, scaly patches.
Q. When should I avoid using Cortisal Ointment?
You should avoid using Cortisal Ointment if you are allergic to betamethasone, salicylic acid, or any of its ingredients. Do not use it if you have bacterial, fungal, or viral skin infections (such as cold sores, chickenpox, or athlete’s foot). It should also be avoided if you have tiny red bumps around the mouth (perioral dermatitis), acne, skin redness or inflammation, or if the skin is broken or has open wounds.
Q. What should I do if I experience skin irritation or a rash after applying Cortisal Ointment?
Stop using Cortisal Ointment and talk to your doctor immediately. You might be having an allergic reaction or the product may be irritating your skin.
Q. How should I apply Cortisal Ointment?
Before using Cortisal Ointment, ensure the affected area is clean and dry before application. Then gently rub a thin layer of the Cortisal Ointment onto the affected area. Typically, it's applied once or twice daily, as directed by your doctor. Do not apply on the face, groin, or underarms unless directed by a doctor. Also, avoid covering the treated area with bandages or dressings unless instructed by your doctor.
Q. Can I use Cortisal Ointment with other medications?
