How Betalic Products work

Betamethasone + Salicylic Acid is a combination of two medicines: Betamethasone + Salicylic Acid1 and Betamethasone + Salicylic Acid2 which treat eczema and psoriasis. Betamethasone + Salicylic Acid1 is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy. Betamethasone + Salicylic Acid2 is a keratolytic medicine which breaks down keratin clumps, removes dead skin cells and softens the skin. It also enhances the absorption of Betamethasone + Salicylic Acid1 into the skin.

Patient Concerns about Betalic Products

Frequently asked questions about Betalic Products

Q. What is Betalic Cream used for?

Betalic Cream is used to treat inflammatory skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema. Betalic Cream contains two medicines, namely betamethasone and salicylic acid. Betamethasone is a strong steroid that reduces swelling, redness, and itching, while salicylic acid helps remove dead skin cells and soften thick, scaly patches.

Q. When should I avoid using Betalic Cream?

You should avoid using Betalic Cream if you are allergic to betamethasone, salicylic acid, or any of its ingredients. Do not use it if you have bacterial, fungal, or viral skin infections (such as cold sores, chickenpox, or athlete’s foot). It should also be avoided if you have tiny red bumps around the mouth (perioral dermatitis), acne, skin redness or inflammation, or if the skin is broken or has open wounds.

Q. What should I do if I experience skin irritation or a rash after applying Betalic Cream?

Stop using Betalic Cream and talk to your doctor immediately. You might be having an allergic reaction or the product may be irritating your skin.

Q. How should I apply Betalic Cream?

Before using Betalic Cream, ensure the affected area is clean and dry before application. Then gently rub a thin layer of the Betalic Cream onto the affected area. Typically, it's applied once or twice daily, as directed by your doctor. Do not apply on the face, groin, or underarms unless directed by a doctor. Also, avoid covering the treated area with bandages or dressings unless instructed by your doctor.

Q. Can I use Betalic Cream with other medications?

Inform your doctor about all other topical or oral medications you are using. Combining multiple topical treatments with Betalic Cream may increase the risk of side effects or reduce effectiveness.

Q. How long should I use Betalic Cream?

Use Betalic Cream for the duration prescribed by your doctor. Prolonged use without medical supervision can lead to increased side effects. If there is no improvement after a few weeks, consult your doctor.

Q. How long does Betalic Cream take to show results?

The exact time Betalic Cream takes to show improvements in your symptoms is not known. However, you may start feeling well in weeks. Ask your doctor for more accurate information.

Q. Can I cover the area with bandages after applying Betalic Cream?

Do not cover the Betalic Cream treated skin with tight bandages or wraps unless your doctor tells you to. This can increase the amount of medicine your skin absorbs, raising the risk of side effects.
