Frequently asked questions about Clotrimazole
Q. What is Candizole 2% Vaginal Cream used for?
Candizole 2% Vaginal Cream is an antifungal medicine used to treat vaginal thrush (fungal infections of the vagina) caused by an overgrowth of Candida yeast. It helps relieve symptoms such as vaginal itching, burning, soreness, abnormal discharge, and irritation of the vulva (external thrush).
Q. How soon can I expect relief from symptoms?
Symptoms such as itching, burning, and soreness usually begin to improve within a few days of starting treatment. However, it may take several days for symptoms to clear completely. If there is no improvement within 7 days, consult your doctor.
Q. Can I stop using Candizole 2% Vaginal Cream once my symptoms improve?
No. You should complete the full course of treatment (single-day or multi-day, as prescribed). Stopping treatment too early may allow the infection to return.
Q. Should I avoid sexual intercourse during treatment?
Yes. It is recommended to avoid vaginal intercourse while you have thrush and during treatment, as this can worsen irritation and delay healing.
Q. Does Candizole 2% Vaginal Cream affect condoms or diaphragms?
Yes. Candizole 2% Vaginal Cream may reduce the effectiveness of latex condoms and diaphragms. Alternative contraception should be used during treatment and for up to 5 days after finishing the course.
Q. Can I use tampons or other vaginal products during treatment?
No. Do not use tampons, intravaginal douches, spermicides, or other vaginal products while using Candizole 2% Vaginal Cream, unless advised by a doctor.
Q. Does my sexual partner need treatment?
Routine treatment of partners is not usually required. However, if your partner has symptoms such as redness, itching, or irritation of the penis, medical advice should be sought.
Q. Is Candizole 2% Vaginal Cream safe to use during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
If you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using Candizole 2% Vaginal Cream. Vaginal antifungals are commonly used in pregnancy, but medical guidance is important.
