How Betasalic Products work
Betamethasone + Salicylic Acid is a combination of two medicines: Betamethasone + Salicylic Acid1 and Betamethasone + Salicylic Acid2 which treat eczema and psoriasis. Betamethasone + Salicylic Acid1 is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy. Betamethasone + Salicylic Acid2 is a keratolytic medicine which breaks down keratin clumps, removes dead skin cells and softens the skin. It also enhances the absorption of Betamethasone + Salicylic Acid1 into the skin.

Frequently asked questions about Betasalic Products
Q. What is BETAsalic Ointment used for, and which skin conditions does it treat?
BETAsalic Ointment is used to treat steroid-sensitive skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, and other hyperkeratotic (thick, scaly) dermatoses. BETAsalic Ointment contains beclometasone, which reduces inflammation, and salicylic acid, which helps remove scales.
Q. Who should not use BETAsalic Ointment?
Individuals should not use BETAsalic Ointment if they are allergic to any of its ingredients, have untreated skin infections, rosacea, acne, or perioral dermatitis. It should not be applied to open wounds.
Q. Can I use BETAsalic Ointment on large areas of skin?
Use BETAsalic Ointment on large areas, or for long periods only if directed by your doctor, as it may increase the risk of side effects, including thinning skin, and absorption of the steroid into the bloodstream.
Q. What precautions should I follow while using BETAsalic Ointment?
While using BETAsalic Ointment, you should avoid covering the treated area with bandages unless told by your doctor. Do not use it for longer than prescribed, and do not stop suddenly. Your doctor may advise you to reduce its use gradually to avoid flare-ups. Keep away from the eyes, and wash your hands after application.
Q. Is BETAsalic Ointment safe for children?
BETAsalic Ointment should be used with caution in children, and only under medical supervision. Children are more likely to absorb steroids (a medicine component present in BETAsalic Ointment) through the skin, which may affect growth and hormone balance.
