Ultrasound Early Pregnancy (TAS)
Understanding Ultrasound Early Pregnancy (TAS)
What is Ultrasound Early Pregnancy (TAS)?
The Ultrasound Early Pregnancy (TAS) is a safe and non-invasive test used to confirm and monitor an early-stage pregnancy. It uses sound waves to create images of the uterus and growing baby. This scan is usually done during the first trimester of pregnancy. It helps confirm the pregnancy by checking the gestational sac, determines fetal heartbeat to check for viable pregnancy, and determine the location of the pregnancy (inside the uterus or ectopic). It also helps estimate how far along the pregnancy is (helps dating the pregnancy) and whether it is a single or multiple pregnancy. TAS indicates Trans-abdominal Scan: during the scan, a small amount of gel is applied to the abdomen, and a probe is moved gently over the belly. The procedure is painless and does not involve any radiation making it a safe scan for both mother and the baby.. This test gives the doctor important information about the health and progress of the pregnancy in its early stages.
