Scrub Typhus IgM by EIA

The Scrub Typhus (Tsutsugamushi) Antibody IgM EIA test is a blood test that detects the presence of IgM antibodies against Orientia tsutsugamushi in the blood. IgM antibodies are produced by the immune system in response to an infection. The test is performed using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique.

Scrub Typhus, also known as tsutsugamushi fever, is a disease accidentally transmitted to humans. Fever, headache, bodyache, and sometimes rashes are the most common symptoms. An eschar (cigarette burn-like sore) at the site of infection and swollen lymph nodes may also occur. The diagnosis is difficult as the clinical symptoms and signs are similar to many other febrile diseases and have relied on the detection of O. tsutsugamushi antibodies during the acute phase of the disease. If left untreated, scrub typhus can lead to severe complications such as respiratory failure, acute kidney injury, and multi-organ failure.
