IgG antibodies are created by your immune system to fight against infections caused by viruses like Parvovirus B19. The Parvovirus B19, IgG Antibody, Serum test is used to detect the presence of Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) RNA in serum samples, which causes Japanese encephalitis, a viral infection transmitted by mosquitoes that can cause severe neurological complications. To check immunity levels to Parvovirus B19 in pregnant women and diagnose any past infection. This test is performed to diagnose a current or previous parvovirus infection; monitor the effectiveness of treatment for parvovirus infection, and assess the risk of fetal anemia if pregnant women get infected. Your doctor may recommend this test if you have an active or previous parvovirus infection; a history of exposure to someone with parvovirus; a history of miscarriage or stillbirth, or a history of blood disorder, such as sickle cell anemia, that can cause fetal anemia. Detection of JEV RNA in the serum helps in early identification of the virus and allows for appropriate management and treatment of the infection.
