NMO with MOG Antibody Profile

Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) is a central nervous system disorder that primarily affects the eye nerves (optic neuritis) and the spinal cord (myelitis). It is an autoimmune disease. NMO with MOG antibody profile test is done to detect NMO and MOG antibodies which can help diagnose the underlying condition and differentiate it from multiple sclerosis (another autoimmune disease that may have similar symptoms yet different disease progression). The presence of NMO & MOG antibodies is diagnostic of NMO and related spectral disorders. 80% of NMO patients are positive for NMO antibodies while 20% of patients may be NMO antibody negative but will be MOG positive.
