What is Mycoplasma Pneumoniae IgG Antibody?
Mycoplasma Pneumoniae is a bacteria that is responsible for respiratory tract infections such as pharyngitis and tracheobronchitis especially in children. The bacteria is responsible for approximately 20% cases of community acquired pneumonia. The test detects the presence of IgG antibodies produced by the bacteria. The test is used to screen recent or past exposure to the bacteria. You may need this test if have fever, headache, and malaise for 2 to 4 days before the onset of respiratory symptoms.
