Know more about this test
Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the right ankle joint is done to diagnose ligament tear, damage in the tendons as well as the ankle joint bones. The MRI scan uses both radio waves and magnetic waves to generate images of the ankle joint. This will be able to detect the problems in blood vessels, nerves, muscles, joints or bones.
During the procedure, the patient’s right ankle joint is taken inside the magnet for an MRI scan. The doctor may use a contrast injection to perform the scan. Injecting contrast helps in getting clear images. The patient may be asked to remove things like jewelry. The procedure takes a maximum of 45 minutes. Inform the doctor if you have any allergy to contrast.

FAQs related to MRI Right Ankle Joint (MRI)
X-ray images give a very clear view of the bones. However, it does not provide a good visual image of the soft tissues like tendons, muscles or fat tissue under the skin. Even the bone microfractures or complicated spine injuries are not clearly visible on the X Ray images. Apart from this, it also exposes the patient to some amount of radiations but the benefit of the information gained from an X-ray image outweighs the risk of radiations.
The interpretation of an X-Ray image is carried out by a radiologist who analyses or reads the X-ray image and prepares a report of the findings which is shared with the patient.
