MRI Brain with Inner Ear (MRI)

An MRI scan uses a magnetic field and radio waves to create a computerized, 3D image of the ear and nerves that carry signals to the brain.

An MRI scan may show that fluid has accumulated in the inner ear or there is an infection in the nerve, or it may show that a tumour is getting close to the ear, causing tinnitus. Abscess, meningitis, and ear infections may be detected through the scan. It can be used to diagnose ear disorders, such as Meniere's disease, in which patients experience extreme dizziness, ringing in the ears, and hearing loss.

Doctors can detect tumours, determine whether they are malignant or benign, and determine their growth stage using MRI. A typical MRI scan takes about 40-60 minutes.
