Lead, Blood by ICPMS
The Lead, Blood by ICPMS is a blood test that measures the amount of lead, a toxic heavy metal that can cause serious health problems even at low levels of exposure. Lead enters the body primarily through contaminated air, water, food, or dust, and may also be absorbed through lead-based paints, batteries, soil, water, occupational exposure (industries like construction, mining, and manufacturing). The Lead, Blood by ICPMS test is used to identify lead poisoning or assess the risk of lead toxicity in the body.
This test can be advised when there are symptoms indicative of lead exposure, such as abdominal pain, constipation, headache, fatigue, irritability, memory loss, and joint pain. High levels of lead can also cause more severe effects, including developmental delays in children, cognitive deficits, high blood pressure, kidney damage, and nerve damage. This test is important for individuals who are at a higher risk of lead exposure, such as children, people living in older homes or lead contaminated areas and workers in certain industries such as construction, painting, or battery manufacturing. is also valuable for assessing the effectiveness of lead poisoning treatments or interventions aimed at reducing lead exposure.
This test is done by a highly specialised Mass Spectrometric technique (ICP-MS) that can measure elements at trace levels in body fluids.
Please note: This is an outsourced test. The sample for this test is collected by TATA 1MG and processed at a NABL accredited partnered lab.
