HPV DNA Detection and Genotyping by PCR
Understanding HPV DNA Detection and Genotyping by PCR
What is HPV DNA Detection and Genotyping by PCR?
The HPV DNA Detection and Genotyping by PCR is a highly sensitive test that detects the presence of human papillomavirus (HPV), a common virus that can cause cervical cancer and other health issues. This test uses Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method to find out the genetic material (DNA) of HPV in the sample. It can detect the specific type of HPV including HPV-16 or HPV-18, the two most common strains of HPV. By identifying the exact HPV type, the test helps in the early detection and HPV related illnesses as HPV infection often does not cause symptoms but can lead to serious problems over time. Knowing your HPV status can help you and your doctor take timely steps for monitoring, treatment, and preventing HPV related health complications.
