You may be asked not to eat or drink anything for about 4–6 hours before the procedure, depending on the organ being biopsied.
Inform your doctor about any medicines you take, especially blood thinners
Females must inform the doctor if they are pregnant.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing and remove any jewelry or metallic items before the scan.
One attendant is mandatory for this test.

Understanding CT Guided Biopsy

What is CT Guided Biopsy?

The CT-guided biopsy is one of the image-guided methods used predominantly in lung and bone biopsies. It is done by guiding a needle through the lesion (or tumour) with the help of CT imaging. This test is minimally invasive and safe.

The person undergoing the test should inform the doctor if they take any medicine for diabetes, blood thinning, or any allergy to contrast.

Before the test, an IV line will be placed on your arm to inject sedatives and painkillers to make you ready for the test. After that, several biopsies will be taken with a CT scan by inserting a needle into the lesion. The entire procedure may take up to 45 minutes based on the location of the lesion.
