Aluminium
Understanding Aluminium
What is Aluminium?
Aluminium test is used to detect aluminium toxicity in the body. Aluminium is a heavy metal found naturally in the form of oxides in soil and water. It is used in paints, solvents, and prosthetics. Symptoms like bone deformities, seizures, speech problems, and delayed growth are linked to aluminium toxicity. The doctor prescribes urine or blood tests. A blood test causes mild pain and bruising on the arm due to the needle.
The normal range of 0-6ng/mL of aluminium applies to all age groups. Greater values indicate abnormal results and can cause kidney failure, respiratory problems, and brain disorders. In prosthetic users, the test shows positive results with aluminium value higher than 10ng/mL. For accuracy, avoid antacids and exposure to MRI and CT scans before the test.
