Overview
What is MR Brain With Csf Flow Study?
An MRI brain with CSF flow studies creates a picture of the bulk, back and forth motion flow of CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) circulation along with surrounding soft tissues. The images captured during the MRI scan can be stored on an electronic device which is further printed on a film. The MRI scan is radiationless test which uses strong magnetic and radio waves to create detailed and clear 3D multiple images. The whole MRI scan procedure takes about 40-60 minutes.
Why is MR Brain With Csf Flow Study done?
- To diagnose brain tumors like accumulation of excessive cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) within the brain cavities.
- To locate the presence of tumors like arachnoid cysts, chordoma in the brain.
- To detect increased or decreased CSF (brain fluid) flow and its ventriculperitoneal pressure on the brain parts.
- To determine ischemia or stoke condition in which clot forms in the brain.
