Troxipide is used in the treatment of gastric ulcers as well as gastric mucosal lesions (scars on gastro intestinal wall) caused in acute and chronic gastritis (inflammation of stomach lining).

How it works

Troxipide is a gastric cytoprotective agent. It increases the secretion of chemicals (prostaglandins) which further increase protection of the gastric mucosa. It also suppresses inflammation and helps in treatment of ulcers and lesions.

Common side effects

Liver enzyme increased, Acne-like rash, Constipation, Fatigue, Gastrointestinal discomfort, Vomiting, Nausea, Headache


Expert advice

  • Use of troxipide is not recommended in children.
  • Use troxipide with caution if you are women of child bearing age as it may cause sexual cycle dysfunction.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you develop symptoms such as urticaria, dyspnoea (breathing difficulty) or fall in blood pressure.
  • You may be continuously monitored for liver dysfunction (hepatitis or jaundice) and liver enzymes (AST, ALT, LDH etc).
