Menadione Sodium Bisulfite



Menadione sodium bisulfite is used to treat vitamin K deficiency and a blood disorder which results in impaired blood clotting (hypoprothrombinaemia).

How it works

Menadione sodium bisulfite belongs to a class of medications called as haemostatics. Menadione is a synthetic form of vitamin K which helps in the synthesis of blood clotting factor thereby preventing the blood loss. Menadione also helps in the synthesis of protein which is important for bone development.

Inflammation of a vein, Shock, Cardiovascular collapse, Chest tightness, Chest pain, Cyanosis (bluish discoloration of the skin), Shortness of breath, Flushing, Increased sweating, Injection site reaction

  • Tell your doctor if you are taking anticoagulants (blood thinners).
  • You will be regularly monitored for prothrombin time (a test of blood clotting time used to measure substances that help the blood to clot) while taking menadione.
  • Tell your doctor if you are planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.
  • Do not take if suffering from Vitamin E deficiency, liver disorder, G6PD deficiency, neonates and premature infants.
  • Do not take if Pregnant .
