How Acebrophylline + Ambroxol works
Acebrophylline + Ambroxol is a combination of two medicines : Acebrophylline and Ambroxol. Acebrophylline is a mucolytic and bronchodilator. It works by relaxing the muscles of the airways and also thins and loosens mucus, making it easier to breathe. Ambroxol is a mucolytic medication. It thins and loosens mucus (phlegm) in the nose, windpipe and lungs making it easier to cough out.

- You have been prescribed Acebrophylline + Ambroxol for prevention and treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
- It does not work right away and should not be used to relieve sudden breathing problems. Always keep a fast-acting (rescue) inhaler with you.
- If at any time your breathing gets worse, please contact your doctor or nurse for advice straightaway.
- Do not smoke. Smoking causes irritation and damage to the lungs and will make your condition worse.
- If you have diabetes you may need to check your blood glucose more frequently, as Acebrophylline + Ambroxol can affect the levels of sugar in your blood. Your doctor will advise you about this.
- Do not discontinue use without consulting your doctor, even if you feel better.
