Acebrophylline + Ambroxol is a combination of two medicines : Acebrophylline and Ambroxol. Acebrophylline is a mucolytic and bronchodilator. It works by relaxing the muscles of the airways and also thins and loosens mucus, making it easier to breathe. Ambroxol is a mucolytic medication. It thins and loosens mucus (phlegm) in the nose, windpipe and lungs making it easier to cough out.
You have been prescribed Acebrophylline + Ambroxol for prevention and treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
It does not work right away and should not be used to relieve sudden breathing problems. Always keep a fast-acting (rescue) inhaler with you.
If at any time your breathing gets worse, please contact your doctor or nurse for advice straightaway.
Do not smoke. Smoking causes irritation and damage to the lungs and will make your condition worse.
If you have diabetes you may need to check your blood glucose more frequently, as Acebrophylline + Ambroxol can affect the levels of sugar in your blood. Your doctor will advise you about this.
Do not discontinue use without consulting your doctor, even if you feel better.
