Canesten Cream

Canesten cream is used to treat common fungal skin infections such as ringworm, athlete’s foot, jock itch, fungal sweat rash, fungal nappy rash, and candidal skin infection. The cream may also ease the symptoms such as itching, redness, irritation, and scaling. It contains clotrimazole, which targets the fungal cell membrane synthesis and inhibits the growth of fungi.

Apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected area 2–3 times daily and rub it in gently. You should continue the treatment for the prescribed duration even if your symptoms improve. This helps prevent recurrence. The cream is for external use only and should not be used on the scalp, nails, eyes, or inside the mouth. In case of accidental contact with the eyes or mouth, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical help.

Side effects are usually mild and may include irritation such as burning, stinging, redness, or itching at the application site. If symptoms worsen or persist, discontinue use and consult a doctor. Do not use this cream if you are allergic to clotrimazole or any other ingredient in this cream.

When applied to the genital area, it may reduce the effectiveness of latex contraceptives such as condoms or diaphragms. Additional precautions should be taken during treatment and for at least 5 days after stopping treatment.

This cream is for the treatment of fungal skin infections and related symptoms and is not a substitute for proper medical assessment. Always talk to a doctor to know whether the rash is fungal or if it does not improve with treatment.

• Fungal skin infections: It treats fungal skin infections such as ringworm (tinea corporis), athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), jock itch (tinea cruris), and other fungal sweat rashes in adults.
  
• Fungal‑associated nappy rash: It aids in managing fungal rashes caused by nappy use in infants.
• Genital area irritation: Canesten cream helps relieve irritation of the genital area that may be caused by fungal (thrush‑like) infection.

What is the recommended dosage of Canesten Anti-Fungal Cream?

Apply the cream to the affected areas two or three times daily. The duration of the treatment depends on the type of infection. A minimum of 2 weeks is required, but the duration may be extended.

What if you forget to use Canesten Anti-Fungal Cream?

If you miss an application, apply Canesten cream as soon as you remember. If it is close to the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual. Do not apply extra to make up for it. Consult your doctor if needed.

What if you use too much Canesten Anti-Fungal Cream?

If you apply more than the recommended amount, gently wipe off the excess with a soft cloth or tissue. Continue using the cream as directed. If you notice any side effects, stop using the cream and consult a doctor.

Active Ingredients:

Each gram contains:

• Clotrimazole: 10 mg (1% w/w)

Other Ingredients:

• Preservative Benzyl Alcohol: 1% w/w
• Water miscible base: As required

• Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent that belongs to the imidazole category of azole antifungals. It reduces fungal growth.

Canesten cream is generally well-tolerated. However, you may experience some side effects after applying the cream, such as:
