How Proflur Plus Products work

Flurbiprofen + Gatifloxacin is a combination of two medicines: Flurbiprofen + Gatifloxacin1 and Flurbiprofen + Gatifloxacin2 which treat eye infections. Flurbiprofen + Gatifloxacin1 is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling) in the eye. Flurbiprofen + Gatifloxacin2 is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria by preventing them from reproducing and repairing themselves.

Patient Concerns about Proflur Plus Products

Frequently asked questions about Proflur Plus Products

Q. What is Proflur Plus Eye Drop used for?

Proflur Plus Eye Drop is used to treat bacterial eye infections and the associated symptoms of eye inflammation, such as redness, swelling, irritation, and discomfort. It may also be prescribed in certain situations where controlling inflammation and preventing bacterial infection are important, including after specific eye procedures.

Q. How does Proflur Plus Eye Drop work?

Proflur Plus Eye Drop contains Gatifloxacin and Flurbiprofen. Gatifloxacin is an antibiotic that works by stopping the growth of infection-causing bacteria in the eye. Flurbiprofen is an anti-inflammatory medicine that helps reduce redness, swelling, pain, and irritation. Together, these ingredients help clear the infection while improving eye comfort.

Q. How should I use Proflur Plus Eye Drop?

Use Proflur Plus Eye Drop exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Wash your hands before applying the drops. Tilt your head back, gently pull down the lower eyelid, and place the prescribed number of drops into the affected eye. Avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye, eyelids, or any surface to prevent contamination.

Q. How long should I use Proflur Plus Eye Drop?

Continue using Proflur Plus Eye Drop for the full duration prescribed by your doctor, even if your symptoms start improving earlier. Stopping treatment too soon may allow the infection to persist or return.

Q. Can Proflur Plus Eye Drop treat viral or fungal eye infections?

No. The Gatifloxacin in Proflur Plus Eye Drop is effective against bacterial infections and does not treat viral or fungal eye infections. Your doctor will determine the cause of your eye symptoms and prescribe the appropriate treatment.

Q. Can I wear contact lenses while using Proflur Plus Eye Drop?

It is generally advisable to avoid wearing contact lenses while you have an active eye infection. Contact lenses may worsen irritation and delay recovery. Your doctor will advise when it is safe to resume wearing them.

Q. Can Proflur Plus Eye Drop help with eye inflammation after eye surgery?

Your doctor may prescribe Proflur Plus Eye Drop in situations where both infection prevention and inflammation control are needed after certain eye procedures. Follow the treatment plan recommended by your doctor.

Q. How long should I wait before using another eye medication?

If you are using more than one eye medication, allow a gap between applications as advised by your doctor. This helps ensure that each medicine is absorbed properly and works effectively.

Q. Why is it important to prevent contamination of the dropper tip?

A contaminated dropper can introduce new bacteria into the eye and increase the risk of infection. Always keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use and avoid touching the dropper tip with your fingers, eye, eyelids, or any other surface.

Q. What precautions can help prevent the spread of an eye infection?

Wash your hands regularly, avoid rubbing your eyes, do not share towels, handkerchiefs, eye cosmetics, or eye medications with others, and follow your doctor's instructions carefully. These measures may help reduce the spread of infection.

Q. Why should I complete the full course of Proflur Plus Eye Drop even if my eye feels better?

Symptoms such as redness and irritation may improve before the infection is completely cleared. Completing the prescribed course helps ensure that the bacteria are adequately treated and reduces the risk of the infection returning.

Q. What should I do if my eye symptoms do not improve?

If your eye redness, discharge, irritation, or discomfort does not improve or becomes worse despite using Proflur Plus Eye Drop as prescribed, contact your doctor. Further evaluation may be needed to determine the cause and appropriate treatment.
