Levocarnitine belongs to the class of medications called as amino acid derivative. It works by improving the low levels of carnitine in the body.

  • Take during or immediately after the meals and consume slowly.
  • Take at evenly spaced times throughout the day (every 3 or 4 hours).
  • Monitor your blood glucose levels regularly during levocarnitine treatment.
  • Do not take this drug if you are allergic to levocarnitine or any of its ingredients. 
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.

Q. Is Noscar 500mg Tablet a steroid?

Noscar 500mg Tablet is not a steroid. It contains Levo-carnitine which is a type of amino acid (made from the amino acids lysine and methionine). It helps in transporting fats to the cells, where fats get metabolized in order to produce energy. It is used to treat primary and secondary Levo-carnitine deficiency.

Q. When can a carnitine deficiency occur?

Carnitine deficiency may be of two types, primary and secondary. Primary is genetic and may show symptoms by five years of age. Whereas, secondary may occur due to certain disorders like kidney problems (chronic kidney failure) and use of antibiotics that reduces its absorption and increases its excretion.

Q. Does warfarin have any effect on Noscar 500mg Tablet?

In some patients, warfarin when taken along with Noscar 500mg Tablet may increase the time required for the formation of blood clot. Hence, before starting Noscar 500mg Tablet, inform your doctor if you are taking warfarin.

Q. What is the best time to take Noscar 500mg Tablet?

Noscar 500mg Tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor. Generally, it is advised to be taken 3-4 times daily, preferably with meals or after meals.

Q. Can Noscar 500mg Tablet be taken by diabetics?

Yes, Noscar 500mg Tablet can be taken by patients with diabetes. However, it is important to know that it contains sucrose. Some studies have shown that it may improve insulin sensitivity. Along with that, it may also be helpful in relieving nerve pain.

Q. Does Noscar 500mg Tablet cause diarrhea?

Noscar 500mg Tablet may very rarely cause diarrhea. This effect of the medicine can be reduced by decreasing the dose of Noscar 500mg Tablet. But, if you are taking oral solution then take it slowly or dilute it more.
