Glencef AZ is a fixed-dose combination of two antibiotics and is used to treat patients with bacterial infections. Cefixime is used to treat infections of the ear, lung, throat and urinary tract. Azithromycin is useful in the treatment of ear infections, strep throat, pneumonia, traveler's diarrhea (loose stools and stomach cramps while traveling). Together they can be used to treat infections of the upper respiratory tract (typhoid and pneumonia), urinary tract and sexually transmitted diseases.

Q. How many days does it take to recover from typhoid?
Typhoid takes around seven and fourteen days to get cured. However, its duration can be as short as three days, or as long as 30 days. If left untreated, illness usually lasts for three to four weeks, but may be longer in a small number of cases. Symptoms vary from mild to severe to life-threatening.
Q. What is the best treatment for typhoid fever?
If typhoid fever is diagnosed in its early stages, a course of antibiotic tablets may be prescribed to you. You will be needed to take these for 7 to 14 days. No, do not stop taking Glencef AZ and complete the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured.
Q. What if I miss my dose?
Take Glencef AZ as soon you remember it. However, do not take it if it's almost time for your next dose. Also, do not take an extra dose to make up for your missed dose.
Q. Can the use of Glencef AZ cause diarrhea?
Yes, the use of Glencef AZ can cause diarrhea. It is an antibiotic which kills the harmful bacteria. However, it also affects the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and causes diarrhea. If you are experiencing severe diarrhea, talk to your doctor about it.
Q. What if I don't get better after using Glencef AZ?
Inform your doctor if you don't feel better after finishing the full course of treatment. Also, inform him if your symptoms are getting worse while using this medicine.
Q. What special precautions should I follow while taking Glencef AZ?
Before taking Glencef AZ tell your doctor if you are allergic to the medicine, or have kidney or liver disease. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, are planning a baby or are breastfeeding.
