Frequently asked questions about Dormide T Products
Frequently asked questions about Dormide T Products
Q. What is Dormide T Eye Drop used for?
Dormide T Eye Drop is a prescription eye medicine used to lower high pressure inside the eye (used in open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension), when a single beta-blocker eye drop is not enough.
Q. Who must not use Dormide T Eye Drop?
Individuals should not use Dormide T Eye Drop if they have or have had asthma, severe COPD, sinus bradycardia, second/third-degree AV block, overt heart failure, cardiogenic shock, or if they are allergic to any component of the medicine.
Q. I have asthma. Is Dormide T Eye Drop safe for me?
No, Dormide T Eye Drop contains a beta-blocker (timolol) that can be absorbed and trigger severe bronchospasm in people with asthma or severe lung disease. This medicine should not be used in bronchial asthma or in those with a history of bronchial asthma. If you have breathing problems, tell your doctor.
Q. I have a slow heartbeat or heart failure. Can I use Dormide T Eye Drop?
If you have a slow heart rate (sinus bradycardia), certain heart blocks, or heart failure, Dormide T Eye Drop is not suitable. It can worsen cardiac function and is restricted in those conditions. Discuss alternatives with your eye doctor or cardiologist.
Q. What if the Dormide T Eye Drop tip touches my eye or the solution gets dirty? Is that dangerous?
Yes, if the Dormide T Eye Drop tip or solution becomes contaminated, there is a risk of bacterial keratitis (a serious eye infection) that can damage vision. Don’t touch the dropper tip to your eye, keep the bottle clean, and stop use/see your doctor if you suspect contamination or develop signs of eye infection.
Q. If I have surgery coming up, is there anything to tell my surgeon/anesthetist about using Dormide T Eye Drop?
Yes, the beta-blocker (timolol) present in Dormide T Eye Drop can impair certain heart reflexes and may affect responses during general anesthesia (risk of prolonged low blood pressure or difficulty restarting the heartbeat). Tell your surgeon/anesthetist that you use Dormide T Eye Drop, as they may advise management for surgery.
