The X - Ray Left Shoulder Zanca View is a special type of X-ray used to get a detailed image of the acromioclavicular (AC) joint in the left shoulder. The Zanca view involves taking the X-ray at a slight upward angle with reduced exposure to better visualize subtle injuries or changes in the AC joint.

This test is commonly used to detect shoulder injuries, joint separations, arthritis, fractures, or other abnormalities in the AC joint. It’s especially helpful for evaluating shoulder pain following trauma or repetitive strain.

The procedure is quick, painless, and noninvasive. You will be asked to position your left shoulder in a specific way while the X-ray is taken. No special preparation is needed, but you may be asked to remove jewelry or clothing from the area being examined.

What are the drawbacks of a bone X-ray?

X-ray images give a very clear view of the bones. However, it does not provide a good visual image of the soft tissues like tendons, muscles or fat tissue under the skin. Apart from this, it also exposes the patient to some amount of radiations but the benefit of the information gained from an X-ray image outweighs the risk of radiations.
