The X - Ray Both SI Joints (Sacro-Iliac) AP & Oblique Views is used to visualize the area of the back where the spine joins with the pelvis (hip bones). This test is prescribed by the doctor to look for and diagnose the cause of lower back pain which could be due to sacroiliitis (inflammation of this joint) or ankylosing spondylitis (a form of arthritis that affects the spine). The test is also helpful in detecting abnormal growth or fracture of the bones in this region and to monitor the healing of the broken bone, once it has been set.
