Typhoid fever also known as enteric fever is a bacterial infection that can spread throughout the body, affecting various organs. It is common in places with poor sanitation, lack of safe drinking water, food prepared in unhygienic conditions, and poor hygiene. Thus, access to safe/clean water, adequate sanitation, and hygiene among food handlers and typhoid vaccinators are all effective in preventing typhoid fever.

When Salmonella typhi enters the body, your immune system produces IgM antibodies as the body's first response of defense against the outer membrane protein of Salmonella typhi.
