The multiple myeloma Diagnostics by FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) test detects specific chromosomal abnormalities associated with multiple myeloma. It examines for the presence of Del(17p), t(14;20), t(14;16), t(11;14), t(4;14), Monosomy 1, and Del(13q). Del(17p) indicates a poor prognosis, while t(14;20), t(14;16), t(11;14), and t(4;14) are associated with aggressive disease. Monosomy 1 and Del(13q) may influence treatment response. Identifying these abnormalities helps guide treatment decisions, predict patient outcomes, and customize therapy for individuals with multiple myeloma, ultimately improving patient management and care.
