Microsatellite Instability (MSI) testing by PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) is a molecular genetic test used to assess the stability of repetitive DNA sequences, known as microsatellites, within an individual's genome. MSI analysis helps identify genetic instability, which can be indicative of certain conditions, including Lynch syndrome (hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer or HNPCC) and sporadic colorectal cancer.
