Understanding CT Guided Interv. Procedure
What is CT Guided Interv. Procedure?
The Computed Tomography (CT) Guided Intervention Procedure is done to reach the deep-seated or hard-to-reach locations in the body. The CT scan is used to create a real-time image of the organ or location of the body where the intervention procedure is to be performed and then used to guide the procedure.
This test is prescribed to withdraw a tissue sample for biopsy, to withdraw body fluids by needle aspiration, and to place catheters for drainage of abnormally collected fluid.
CT exams generally use a small amount of radiation and are therefore considered relatively safer as compared to X-rays.
