Color Doppler Head

The Color Doppler - Head is an ultrasound procedure that creates detailed images of the blood vessels of the head, specifically, the brain. It helps diagnose conditions, such as Acute Ischemic Stroke, or formation of blood clots in a blood vessel in the brain; Vasospasm, or narrowing of a section of a blood vessel; Stenosis, or narrowing of the brain arteries, and stroke risk in patients with Sickle Cell Anemia which can cause blood clots or blockages in blood vessels.

It is a non-invasive procedure, where a special gel is rubbed on the surface and an ultrasound probe is used to send and receive ultrasonic waves that create viewable images. Avoid smoking 30 minutes before the procedure as nicotine causes narrowing of the blood vessels and affects the test results.
