Cerebral-Mra
Understanding Cerebral-Mra
What is Cerebral-Mra?
The Cerebral-Mra is an imaging procedure to evaluate and identify any abnormalities in the blood vessels (arteries and veins) in the brain. Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) is used to identify narrowing of the blood vessels and to rule out the presence of aneurysms. This is a painless and safe imaging technique that uses radio waves and magnetic fields to create clear and detailed three-dimensional pictures of the blood vessels. This method does not require any radiation exposure.
A contrast agent (gadolinium-based dye) could be injected into your blood to produce colored images for more clarity. The procedure can take 30-90 minutes. You should inform your doctor if you have any implants, pregnancy, allergies, or kidney disease, or use any medical devices.
What is Cerebral-Mra used for?
- • To determine the presence of blockages in the blood vessels of the brain • To determine any damage to the blood vessels in the brain • To check the integrity of the blood brain barrier • To diagnose any tumours of the cerebral venous sinus
