CD3 (cluster of differentiation 3) is a test performed on a blood sample to measure the level of CD3 in the blood. The test is performed to confirm the T cell lymphoma (or leukemia) during and after the treatment of the T cell lymphoma.

The CD3 cell count, alongside other immunological parameters, is critical in monitoring the immune function. Doctors typically recommend the CD3 test for patients who have been diagnosed with HIV.

Before taking the test, you must inform the lab about all the medicines you take. The doctor can then check if any of the medication can affect the test results. In general, a normal CD3 count (that is, negative) implies that the person's immune system is not yet affected by the HIV infection.
