What is Boostrix Vaccine? 

The Boostrix Vaccine is a Tdap vaccine, which provides protection against three bacterial infections: tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough). It is a combination vaccine containing inactivated components that stimulate the immune system to produce protective antibodies without causing the disease itself. It is essential to take the vaccine doses as per the doctor’s advice for adequate protection against Tdap diseases (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis).

Who should get vaccinated?

Boostrix Vaccine is indicated for active booster immunization against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis in individuals aged 10 years and older. It is also recommended during the third trimester of pregnancy to protect infants younger than 2 months of age from pertussis.

Note:

• Boostrix is not recommended for children below 10 years of age. It is approved only as a booster dose for individuals aged 10 years and older.

Administration (For Adults only):

It will be administered by a qualified healthcare professional. Kindly do not self-administer. A booster dose is recommended as per the advised schedule, usually at intervals of at least 5 years since the last Td or Tdap vaccination to maintain protection against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis.
