Overview
What is CD45 LCA?
CD 45 LCA is a marker that is present in the cell membranes. Leukocyte antigen is another name of the CD 45 LCA and is used to detect the presence of lymphoid neoplasm. Positive test results indicate the presence of lymphoma in the body. This test differentiates Hodgkin’s cell in the blood.
It is important for antigen receptor signaling of T and B cells. But if there is a presence of anti-CD45, the condition is diagnosed as a blood cell cancer. CD45 is not found in the classical case of Hodgkin's lymphoma. If the test reveals a Positive CD45 or LCA marker, one must consult an oncologist for further cancer therapies.
Why is CD45 LCA done?
- To confirm presence of inflammatory cells, including intestinal intraepithelial lymphocytes
- To confirm hematopoietic nature of tumors
- To assist in classification of lymphomas and leukemias
