Overview

What is CD22?

CD22 is present on the outer layer of mature B cells (part of the immune system) and a few immature B cells. Doctors may recommend a CD22 test if you show symptoms of hairy cell leukemia (unexplained weight loss, shortness of breath, fatigue, excessive sweating) or B cell lymphoma (swelling in liver and lymph nodes, abdominal swelling). The test also helps doctors to monitor patients during the treatment for these conditions and post-treatment.

Also called IHC marker CD 22 Immunohistochemistry blood test; for which there are no specific preparations required. The turnaround time for the reports is about 24 hours. A positive result may mean the presence of the previously mentioned conditions. Before the test, remember to inform the doctor about all your medications and any food allergies.
