Octreotide acetate એ સેરોટોનિન અને ગ્રોથ હોર્મોન જેવા શરીરમાં ચોક્કસ કુદરતી હોર્મોનની અસરોને અવરોધીને કાર્ય કરે છે. તે રક્તવાહિનીઓને સાંકડી કરીને અન્નનળીમાંથી રક્તસ્ત્રાવને પણ ઘટાડે છે.
