How Ranitidine + Magaldrate works

Ranitidine + Magaldrate is a combination of two medicines. Ranitidine is an H2 blocker (antacid). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which helps in relief of acid related indigestion and heartburn. Magaldrate is an inorganic salt that neutralizes excess acid in the stomach.

  • You have been prescribed Ranitidine + Magaldrate to give relief from stomach pain, heartburn and indigestion due to acidity.
  • Avoid taking soft drinks, citrus fruits like orange and lemon, which can irritate the stomach and increase acid secretion.
  • Do not take any other indigestion remedies (antacids) within two hours of taking Ranitidine + Magaldrate.
  • Drink 6 to 8 full glasses of water daily to help prevent constipation while you are taking this medicine. Do not use a stool softener (laxative) without first asking your doctor.
  • Incorporate the following lifestyle changes in order to prevent acidity:
    1. Make sure you eat regular meals and drink plenty of water.
    2. Avoid spicy and fatty fried food.
    3. Lose weight if you are obese.

    6. Do not go to bed immediately after taking a meal. Sit in a relaxed position for some time for better digestion.
