How Phenylephrine + Atropine works
Phenylephrine + Atropine is a combination of two medicines : Phenylephrine and Atropine. Phenylephrine is a decongestant. It works by narrowing blood vessels of the eye to relieve inflammation (redness and swelling). Atropine is an anticholinergic medication. It works by reducing inflammation or swelling in the eye (uveitis or iritis). Using Atropine dilates the pupils and temporarily paralyzes the focusing muscle inside the eye. It also relaxes the eyes' focusing mechanisms.
