How Metronidazole + Nicotinamide works

Metronidazole + Nicotinamide is a combination of two medicines: Metronidazole and Nicotinamide which treat pimples (acne). Metronidazole is an antibiotic which kills bacteria and other infectious microorganisms by damaging the DNA. Nicotinamide is a form of vitamin B. It exerts anti-inflammatory effects when applied to the skin and reduces swelling, redness and tenderness associated with acne.

  • You may have to use it for a long time before your acne starts to improve. Be patient and keep using it every day.
  • Wash your skin with a mild cleanser and pat it dry before applying Metronidazole + Nicotinamide.
  • Apply it as a thin layer onto clean, dry, unbroken skin affected by acne.
  • It may cause minor burning, stinging or irritation when applied. Inform your doctor if this does not go away.
  • Avoid contact with your eyes, nose or mouth. Rinse it off with water if you accidentally get the cream in these areas.
  • Inform your doctor if symptoms do not get improves within 2- 4 weeks of the treatment. 
  • Dry skin is a common side effect. Use skin moisturizers and avoid alcohol-based products to avoid dryness.
