Maraviroc is used in the treatment of HIV infection.
How Maraviroc works
Maraviroc is a chemokine receptor antagonist. It shows its action by binding to the human chemokine receptor CCR5 present on the membrane of CD4 cells (T-cells) and prevents the interaction of HIV with CCR5 required by the HIV virus to enter the human cells.
Common side effects of Maraviroc
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them
