How Empagliflozin + Linagliptin + Metformin works
Empagliflozin + Linagliptin + Metformin is a combination of three medicines: empagliflozin, linagliptin, and metformin hydrochloride. Empagliflozin works by blocking a protein in the kidneys called SGLT2 (sodium-glucose cotransporter 2), which normally reabsorbs sugar back into the blood. Empagliflozin blocks this protein, allowing more sugar to be removed from the body through urine. Linagliptin targets an enzyme called DPP-4 (dipeptidyl peptidase-4), which breaks down hormones that help the pancreas release insulin and lower sugar levels after meals. Metformin hydrochloride reduces the amount of sugar produced by the liver and helps the body respond better to insulin. Together, they control blood sugar from multiple angles, leading to more stable glucose levels and reduced risk of complications related to type 2 diabetes.
