Coal Tar is used in the treatment of psoriasis (silvery scaly skin rash), keratoses (abnormal skin growth) and dermatitis (skin rash or irritation).
How it works
Coal tar belongs to a class of drugs known as keratoplastics. It works by causing the skin to shed dead cells from its top layer and slow down the growth of skin cells. This effect decreases scaling and dryness. Coal tar can also decrease itchiness from these skin conditions.

Increased sensitivity to light, Acneiform eruptions, Allergic reaction, Bacterial eruptions, Contact dermatitis, Inflammation of hair follicles, Irritation, Skin cancer
