How Amoxycillin + Tinidazole works

Amoxycillin + Tinidazole is a combination of two antibiotics: Amoxycillin and Tinidazole. Amoxycillin kills bacteria by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is needed for them to survive. Tinidazole kills other microorganisms in addition to bacteria by damaging their DNA. Together, they treat your infection effectively.

Expert advice for Amoxycillin + Tinidazole

  • Amoxycillin + Tinidazole must be taken with food at the same time every day.
  • Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat.
  • Discontinue Amoxycillin + Tinidazole and inform your doctor immediately if you get a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or have difficulty in breathing.
  • Do not drink alcohol during or for 2-3 days after treatment with this medicine. You may develop nausea, vomiting, flushing and headache.
  • Inform your doctor if you have liver disease. Your dose may need to be adjusted in severe liver disease.
