Strepsils is an over-the-counter medicine. It contains antimicrobial ingredients that help fight bacteria and provide symptomatic relief in mild throat infections.

Strepsils helps soothe irritation, reduce pain and discomfort, and provide a calming effect. It is commonly used to relieve sore throat, hoarseness, dryness, and scratchiness due to a cold, cough, or excessive speaking. They also help keep the throat moist, making swallowing and speaking more comfortable.

The usual recommended dose is one lozenge to be dissolved slowly in the mouth every 2–3 hours, or as directed by your doctor. Do not take more than 12 lozenges in 24 hours. However, your doctor will decide the dose and duration for you. Avoid taking more than the recommended dose. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Strepsils is generally well tolerated. However, some individuals may experience mild side effects such as mouth irritation. These are usually temporary. If they persist, seek medical advice. Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C. Do not use it if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Inform your doctor about any other medications you are taking. Strepsils is meant for symptomatic relief and should not replace prescribed treatment if required.
