Candid skin cream is an OTC (over-the-counter) antifungal cream. It is used to treat fungal skin infections and the discomfort associated with them. It includes clotrimazole (1% w/w), which is an antifungal medicine. It works by inhibiting the growth of the fungi that cause common skin infections such as ringworm, athlete’s foot, jock itch, and fungal sweat rash. It also helps with symptoms such as itching, redness, irritation, and scaling, enabling the skin to heal and look better. If used as advised, it may also help with fungal nappy rash in babies and fungal infections in the genital area.

Apply a thin layer of cream to the affected area 2–3 times daily, or as directed by your doctor. However, avoid excessive rubbing. Continue treatment for the duration advised, even after symptoms improve. This cream is for external use only. Do not use on the scalp or nails, or in the eyes. If you accidentally get cream in your eyes or mouth, wash immediately with water and contact your doctor.

Side effects of this skin cream include local burning, stinging, itching, redness, or a skin rash at the application site. These effects are usually mild. If irritation worsens or persists, stop using it and consult a doctor. If you have an allergy to clotrimazole or any other ingredients of this cream, do not use it. It may reduce the effectiveness of rubber contraceptives, such as condoms or diaphragms. Use an alternative method of contraception during the entire course of treatment on the genital area and for at least 5 days after stopping treatment.

This cream is for the treatment of fungal skin infections and related symptoms and is not a substitute for proper medical assessment. Always talk to a doctor to know whether the rash is fungal or if it does not improve with treatment.

• Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent that belongs to the imidazole category of azole antifungals. It helps reduce fungal growth.

What is the recommended dosage for Candid Multi-Benefit Skin Cream?

What if you forget to use Candid Multi-Benefit Skin Cream?

Apply the cream as soon as you remember, then continue using it as usual for the rest of the treatment.

What if you use too much Candid Multi-Benefit Skin Cream?

If you apply more than the recommended amount, gently wipe off the excess with a soft cloth or tissue and continue using the cream as directed. If you notice increased redness, burning, or irritation, stop using it and consult a doctor.

• Use this cream exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
• Clean and dry the affected area before application.
• Apply a thin layer and gently rub it in.
• Wash your hands before and after use (unless treating the hands).

• Continue using Candid skin cream for 1–2 weeks even after symptoms improve. Stopping early can lead to a recurrence of the infection.
• Keep the affected area dry, especially in skin folds like the groin. Moisture can increase the risk of recurrence.
• Do not use steroid-based creams that contain antifungals such as Candid unless advised to do so. They may worsen the infection.
• If there is no improvement within 7–10 days, consult a doctor. You may need an additional treatment for your condition.
• Mild burning or irritation may occur initially. Stop use and seek advice if redness or discomfort worsens.
• If infections keep returning, get evaluated for underlying conditions such as diabetes or low immunity.

Candid skin cream contains clotrimazole. It works by damaging the fungal cell membrane, preventing the fungus from growing and thus clearing the infection. As the fungus is controlled, the infection improves over time, and symptoms such as redness, itching, and soreness tend to resolve. This allows the skin to begin healing in the affected area.

Is it suitable in pregnancy & breastfeeding?

It may be used during pregnancy, but it is recommended to consult your doctor before use, especially during the first trimester.

If you are breastfeeding, do not apply the cream to your breasts to ensure the baby does not accidentally ingest it.

Is it suitable for children and infants?

Candid skin cream can be used for fungal‑associated nappy rash in babies, but only on the affected skin area and as directed.

Yes, elderly people can use Candid cream. As aging skin is thinner, drier, and more sensitive, it is recommended that the cream be used under medical supervision.

Is it safe to consume alcohol with Candid cream?

No specific precautions regarding alcohol use are known for this cream.

What lifestyle changes should I make while using the Candid Cream? 

Avoid sharing towels, bath mats, or socks with others to prevent the spread of infection. Avoid scratching, as it can spread the infection and damage the skin.

Is it suitable for individuals with kidney & liver conditions?

Candid skin cream is for external use only. Since it is applied on the skin, its absorption is minimal. However, consult your doctor if you have any underlying conditions.

Can Candid cream be applied to the face? 

Yes, Candid cream can be used on the face only if your doctor recommends it, as the skin there is sensitive. Using it on the face for a long time can cause side effects such as burning, itching, and skin irritation. If your doctor suggests it, a thin layer of the cream can be applied with caution/ Avoid the area around the eyes, nose, and mouth.

Can Candid cream be used in the groin or underarms? 

Yes, Candid cream can be used directly on the groin or underarm areas, as these are very prone to fungal infections. You should always keep the groin and underarms clean and dry and wear loose-fitting clothing when using Candid cream. 

Can Candid cream be used for nail infections? 

Candid cream is generally ineffective for nail infections because it does not penetrate the nails properly. Fungal infections of the nail may require different treatment. It is advised that you consult your doctor about your nail infection.

Can men and women both use Candid cream? 

Yes, both men and women can use it for fungal infections. Apart from treating general skin infections, Candid cream may be used to relieve itching, redness, or burning associated with fungal infections of the vulva and the groin or the penis.

Can I use Candid cream with other skin creams? 

Before using it with other skin creams, you should consult your doctor. Some creams may reduce the effectiveness of Candid cream or make it uncomfortable to use. If there is any allergic reaction (such as rash and swelling) after using this cream, talk to your doctor. Also, tell the doctor about the skin products you use.

Is coconut oil beneficial for fungal infections?

Coconut oil has mild antifungal effects. However, it is not a proven solution for fungal infections. You should not replace medicines, such as Candid cream, with coconut oil. If you do not see any improvement after using this cream, discuss with your doctor. They may recommend a better treatment.

Can I use Candid cream daily?

Candid cream is commonly used daily until the infection goes away. You should use it regularly for treatment to be effective. Follow your doctor’s instructions and do not stop using it, even if the symptoms fade after a few applications.

Can I apply Candid cream to the genital area? 

Yes, it can be used on the genital area if your doctor tells you to. The skin is sensitive in these areas. You should be careful when using it. Before you apply the cream, wash your hands properly. Keep the area dry with a clean towel.

How many times can Candid cream be applied?
