• This device is required for a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) including an open-sided speculum, tenaculum, sponge stick, antiseptic, contrast medium, and an acorn (Cohen) cannula (A) or a balloon-tip catheter (B). The cervix is prepared with an antiseptic and grasped with a single-toothed tenaculum

• Light female intimate area bleeding or spotting for 1 - 2 days after the HSG is common

• Heavy bleeding, high body temperature, abnormal female intimate area bleeding or abdominal pain lasting beyond the HSG could be signs of more serious complications and should be reported to the office quickly
