What is Influvac Tetra 2026/2027 Vaccine? 

The Influvac Tetra 2026/2027 Vaccine is a flu vaccine that contains inactivated (dead) viruses from four different strains: two type A strains (H1N1 and H3N2) and two type B strains. This type of vaccine is also known as a quadrivalent influenza vaccine. It helps to develop immunity by stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies. Influenza vaccine formulation is updated regularly because influenza viruses undergo continuous changes. It is essential to take the vaccine doses per the doctor's advice for adequate protection against the disease. 

Who should get vaccinated?

Influvac Tetra 2026/2027 Vaccine is indicated in adults and children from 6 months of age as an annual shot. The following individuals are at high-risk of developing severe complications after infection and should get vaccinated:

• Pregnant women and children 
• Older individuals
• Individuals with chronic health conditions such as heart, lung, kidney, neurological, liver, or metabolic disorders.
• Individuals with weakened immune systems or who are taking medications that suppress the immune system
• Healthcare workers and others who may have increased occupational exposure to influenza

You should have the vaccination each year because different new strains of the flu virus emerge frequently and different vaccines are developed. 

Administration (For Adults only):

The vaccine should be administered by a qualified healthcare professional and should not be self-administered. It is given as an intramuscular or deep subcutaneous injection. Intramuscular injection is typically done in the deltoid muscle (upper arm) in adults or the anterolateral muscle (thigh) in infants. Annual vaccination is recommended. In children below 9 years of age who have not previously received an influenza vaccine, a second dose is recommended after an interval of at least 4 weeks.
