Administration

The vaccine is administered intranasally. Dogs should be at least 2 weeks of age to receive the Kennel Cough Vaccine. If an antibiotic is administered to the dog within 1 week of vaccination, then vaccination should be repeated after the course of the antibiotic is finished.

Unvaccinated dogs should receive one dose at least 3 weeks before periods of anticipated risk, such as boarding, temporary kennelling, daycare stays, grooming visits, training sessions, or exposure to other dogs. This helps provide protection against both vaccine agents. 

However, for protection only against Bordetella bronchiseptica, vaccination can be done at least 72 hours before potential exposure to high-risk environments. 

Revaccination is generally recommended annually to help maintain continued protection against kennel cough.

Side Effects of Kennel Cough Vaccine for Dogs

The Kennel Cough Vaccine for Dogs is generally well-tolerated and does not usually cause serious side effects. In some cases, mild side effects may occur as your dog’s body adapts to the vaccine. The most common side effects include mild discharges from the eyes and nose, wheezing, sneezing, and coughing. In rare cases, lethargy or vomiting can be seen. These effects are typically temporary and resolve on their own within a short duration. Consult your veterinarian if the side effects persist or appear severe.
