Understanding Tresivac PFS Vaccine (Vaccination at Home)

What is the Tresivac PFS Vaccine?

The Tresivac PFS vaccine is a trivalent vaccine that provides protection against three highly contagious viral diseases: measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR). It contains live attenuated (weakened) viruses that help the immune system build protection without causing the disease.

This vaccine works by stimulating the body to produce antibodies against the viruses that cause MMR, offering long-term immunity and reducing the risk of complications associated with MMR.

Who should get vaccinated?

The Tresivac PFS vaccine is recommended for active vaccination of children from 9 months to 10 years of age against measles, mumps, and rubella. For children above 10 years and susceptible non‑pregnant adult individuals, use of MR‑VAC (Measles and Rubella vaccine) or R‑VAC vaccine (Rubella vaccine) is recommended, while observing the contraindications. The vaccine may also be given to adults at any age who were not vaccinated in childhood or have no vaccination record, keeping in mind that vaccination in adults can cause a higher percentage of adverse reactions (such as unilateral or bilateral parotitis and fever) compared to childhood vaccination.

Administration (For Adults Only):

The vaccine should be administered by a qualified healthcare professional and should not be self-administered. The IAP (Indian Academy of Pediatrics) Committee of Immunisation recommends two doses of MMR vaccine to every child at 9 months and 15 to 18 months of age, with the second dose given 4 to 8 weeks after the first dose. For adults who are not vaccinated, two doses of the vaccine can be given at an interval of at least 4 weeks.

Benefits of the Tresivac PFS Vaccine:

  • Protects against viral infections – measles, mumps, and rubella
  • Helps prevent serious complications associated with these infections
